Tanya Lawson and the
Cougars of Cypress Hills Provincial Park
Tanya Lawson will be a presenter at the 2014 Symposium of the Yellowhead Flyway Birding Trail Association.
She will present the results of a multi-year study done in the Cypress Hills Park by two Masterís students from the University of Alberta. In their work, the researchers used radio and GPS collars to track the movement of cougars. The presentation will include the characteristics of these fascinating animals, their distribution within the park and the predator-prey relationship.
Tanya is the Park Supervisor, West Block of the Cypress Hills Park, land that extends across the provincial boundaries of Saskatchewan and Alberta. In her position, she works in the areas of forestry, wildlife conservation and range management.
