A Christmas bird count was done on January 5^th /17 @ Chatsworth S.D , east of Saltcoats , Sk .
Temperature was cold – 28 AM, -16 P.M., WINDS 5-10 KM. Snow 10-25 CM, partly cloudy to cloudy. Approximately 100KM were covered by auto and by foot about 15hrs .
Participants were HERB & JEAN CROSS, DONNA & CHARLES DYCK,  ROBERT &  WIONNA MESS , GEORGE MABEN. GEORGE & LAURIE MURRAY, KERRI & STEWART ROOKE, CAROL & RUDY TANGEDAL, LISA HERMINSTON & MARCEL PELLETIER .

17 species counted, 634 total birds .
185 – House Sparrows
198 - Snow Buntings
58 – Magpies
62 – Chickadee’s
27 – Redpolls
21 – Starlings
13 – Pigeons
24 – Ravens
10 – Hairy woodpeckers
9 – Downy woodpeckers
10 – Blue Jays
9 – white Breasted Nuthatch
4  - Ruffed Grouse
3 – Junco’s
1 – Horned Owl

A mammal count was also done 19 Whitetail Deer .
10 – Beaver Dens
4 – Red squirrels
1 – Coyote

Numbers were up a little, but Redpolls and Snow Buntings down .
